GSEM’s Plan for Victoria submission

Victoria and Melbourne have changed since Plan Melbourne was refreshed in 2017. We have experienced significant changes to the way we work, with the ability in some sectors to work flexibly and remotely. GSEM wants to embrace and enhance the economic opportunities for GSEM residents to stay and work in the GSEM region both in person and working from home. Extreme weather events are impacting the GSEM region with increasing frequency, impact and scale of emergency response and recovery.

The new plan for Victoria needs to be future focused on the world of 2024 and the actions required to achieve the future we want in 2050. Over the next 30 years the diverse Greater South East of Melbourne (GSEM) region will transition its employment land and exhaust all greenfield housing land. As places evolve, the region needs to ensure there are clear and efficient planning mechanisms to ensure all communities have access to economic and social opportunities, services and infrastructure.
