Recycled water pipeline funding announced

Greater South East Melbourne has welcomed an announcement by Minister for Water, Harriet Shing of more than $1.3 million in funding for the construction of the Monterey Recycled Water Scheme in the GSEM region.

Communities within Frankston City will benefit from a new 2.3 kilometre pipeline delivering high-quality recycled water to green spaces including sports grounds, open space and a world-class golf course.

Under the $4 million scheme co-funded by the Victorian Government, South East Water, Frankston City Council and The National Golf Club – Long Island) the pipeline will unlock 73ML of recycled water each year from the Eastern Treatment Plant.

Construction of the pipeline is likely to start in 2024 and recycled water is expected to flow by Spring 2024.

Utilising recycled water across the region is a GSEM priority.
