A surging population is putting pressure on our transport infrastructure, and many residents are wholly dependent on cars due to the scarcity of public transport.

Transport infrastructure is also an essential part of the local economy, enabling local businesses to get their goods to market in Australia and overseas.

However, there are key gaps in the infrastructure needed for South East Melbourne, that will continue to cause congestion and constrain a growing industry if left unchecked.

South East Melbourne infrastructure priorities include:

• Fund the development and expansion of Port of Hastings

• Construction of a rail link to Dandenong South’s Intermodal Port

• Progress the planning for South Eastern Airport

• Funding for North East road linkages including upgrading and extension of Thompsons Road through to Pakenham
