Why we need better transport

Some people who live in Melbourne's south east have to spend almost an hour to get to and from work every day. And the majority spend more than 40 minutes in the car every morning and every afternoon.

That's not good enough.

We need roads adapted for the large number of people travelling in our region but more importantly - we need public transport opportunities to reduce the congestion our residents are currently grappling with. Furthermore, by bringing jobs closer to where people live, we can further reduce congestion and the time our residents have to spend in their car or on the train.

That's why SEM is advocating for better road infrastructure, more investment in trains and buses, and more jobs closer to where people live.
